This is Moo. Esme's mouse that has accompanied her everywhere since...well, forever. I found this drawing in a pile of many that came home from school with her today.

Turning 5 years old tomorrow
Esme has been drawing seemingly constantly this week, getting totally absorbed into each drawing. I have noticed that she seems to be using her drawings more expressively, to communicate her wishes and ideas (triple drawing with imaginary sisters). These drawings are a selection of free drawings which I think sum up her week.
Mummy and Grandad 'Mummy I have drawn you with your glasses on because they make your eyes better' |
'I have drawn me in the middle and my two sisters (imaginary as Esme is an only child) Emma and Emmalee at the sides. I have the prettiest dress on because I am the princess' |
'A flag' Esme figured this out herself and painstakingly coloured it all in with biro |

Perspective
Today. Out of the blue, Esme said 'when you draw a picture of things near to you they are big. When you draw things far away, they are little'. (She was actually in the bath at the time, but had had a day of feverish, frenetic drawing. It was difficult to get her to stop.)
